Stephen Jones is a 1995 graduate of Sam Houston State University, where he studied instrument pedagogy with Dr. Gary Sousa and Trombone with Dr. Henry Howey. He played bass trombone with Bearkat Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. Mr. Jones attended high school at A&M Consolidated. He has also been a member of the Texans Pep Band and the Woodlands Concert Band. He marched with both the Sky Ryders in 1989 and Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in 1991. Mr. Jones was Associate Director of Bands at Klein High School since August 2023.
Before coming to Klein, he was the Assistant Band Director at Lewis Middle School for nine years. Prior to that, he was the Director of Bands at Nimitz High School for twelve years. He also worked as the Associate Director of Bands at Nimitz High School, Eisenhower High School, Hempstead High School and Beverly Hills Intermediate.
He is an active member of Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Jones enjoys spending time with his wife, Tami, and his son, Andrew and pets.

Yajayra Soria is the Assistant Band Director at Klein High School, where she conducts the Concert Band, co-directs the Klein Marching Band, and serves as Pit Orchestra Director for the school musical. Under her leadership, the Klein Pit Orchestra has been a Tommy Tune Award recipient for two consecutive years.
Before joining Klein High School, Ms. Soria taught at Springwoods Village Middle School for three years. A native of Spring, Texas, she is a graduate of Spring High School and holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Houston. She is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and an alumna of the Beta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Soria performs with the Spring ISD Alumni Band, which has appeared at the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago and the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio. In her free time, she enjoys painting, playing video games, and spending quality time with her fiancé Jared and their three cats.

Josiah Vargas is the Assistant Band Director at Klein High School, where he conducts the Concert Band and assists with the Klein Marching Band and Jazz Band. This is his first year of teaching.
A graduate of Klein Oak High School, Mr. Vargas earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Houston in 2026, where he studied tuba with Mark Barton and graduated magna cum laude. He is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and an alumnus of the Omicron Upsilon chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Mr. Vargas was an active DCI participant and performed with the 2022 Cavaliers, 2023 & 2025 Bluecoats, and the 2024 Boston Crusaders. He currently serves on the production team for the Bluecoats.
Outside of teaching, Mr. Vargas enjoys playing video games, listening to ’80s jazz fusion, and spending time with his girlfriend, Heidee.

Mrs. Hafford is a seasoned Color Guard Director and Designer with over ten years of experience leading, designing, and growing successful programs both in the school and independent ensembles. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong reputation for creating dynamic visual performances, mentoring young performers, and building cohesive, high-achieving teams. In her most recent role as Color Guard Director at Spring Woods High School, she helped build a strong, competitive program that achieved multiple Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) State Championships. Her work spans every aspect of the color guard activity fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. She is known for building strong team cultures where performers feel supported, motivated, and inspired to achieve their best.
Outside of her professional life, Mrs. Hafford is a proud wife and mother. She’s been married to her loving husband, Nicholis, for seven years, and together they have a joyful 3-year-old son, Hendrix, who keeps them on their toes and fills their lives with love and laughter!
Mrs. Hafford is excited to join the Klein High School Band family and bring her passion, experience, and energy to the program. She looks forward to continuing our tradition of excellence while helping students grow as performers and individuals. She’s ready to get started and make this next chapter something truly special.

Eric Roberson holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Sam Houston State University and brings a wide range of performance and teaching experience to the Klein High School Band. He marched with The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI) in 2017 and Vigilantes Indoor Percussion (WGI) in 2019. You may have even caught him performing with the Houston Texans Deep Steel Thunder Drumline during the 2023 and 2024 NFL seasons!
While at Sam Houston State, Mr. Roberson competed in the prestigious Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Chamber Contest, where his ensemble proudly took home 3rd place.
As an educator, Mr. Roberson has served as a marching percussion technician for several Houston-area schools and has held leadership roles including Percussion Director for Willis ISD and Westside High School (HISD), as well as Assistant Percussion Director for Tomball ISD.
During his time at Tomball High School, the Varsity Indoor Percussion program earned major recognition, placing 2nd at the TCGC State Contest and 2nd at WGI World Championships in 2025. In 2024, the Tomball Varsity Indoor Percussion also placed 2nd at the TCGC State Contest, and the Tomball JV Indoor Percussion program placed 3rd at TCGC State.
When he’s not working with students or writing drum parts, Mr. Roberson enjoys traveling the world and, just as much, lounging at home with his sweet 11-year-old dog, Madam.
Mr. Roberson is thrilled to join the Klein High School team and looks forward to making great music, building strong relationships, and helping the percussion program thrive!
